Gin Rummy is the only real alternative to Poker!
Gin Rummy is generally played by two players, each receiving ten cards. The object of Gin Rummy is to arrange your 10 cards into Sets (see below) as quickly as possible so that you can end the round before your opponent does, and accumulate points.
At the start of each round, it is wise to sort your cards into sets, or possible sets, and separate these cards from the deadwood which you may want to discard.
Doing this early on will make it quicker and easier to decide which cards to keep and which to discard throughout the game.
In general, because high valued cards increase your deadwood value, it may be wise to try to discard these as quickly as possible in case your opponent knocks early on in the round.
It is important to take note of which cards your opponent takes from the waste pile, which cards he does not want from the waste pile, and which cards he discards.
With skill and smart thinking, you could walk away with pockets full of cash!
